Job Title: Head Varsity Volleyball Coach

Location: Genoa Central High School – Texarkana, AR 

Season: Fall 2026

Position Overview

Genoa Central  is thrilled to announce the inaugural season of our Volleyball program! We are seeking a visionary, high-energy Head Varsity Volleyball Coach to build, lead, and define the culture of volleyball at our school.

Because this is a new program, the successful candidate will be responsible for everything from fundamental skill development to establishing team traditions and purchasing initial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Design and implement a comprehensive plan for a new volleyball program, including varsity and [JV/Freshman] levels.
  • Culture Building: Establish a positive, competitive, and inclusive team culture that aligns with the school’s mission.
  • Recruitment: Actively recruit student-athletes within the school to generate interest and participation in a new sport.
  • Instruction: Teach fundamental and advanced volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules to players with varying levels of experience.
  • Logistics: Assist the Athletic Director in ordering uniforms/equipment and scheduling matches, officials, and transportation.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with parents, boosters, and local youth volleyball clubs to ensure long-term program sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred. Experience starting a program or "rebuilding" is a major plus.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of NFHS (or state-specific) volleyball rules and modern coaching techniques.
  • Certification: Must hold an Arkansas Teacher’s License,  state coaching certifications, CPR/First Aid, and required background clearances as well as a CDL.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and the patience required to teach a sport to beginners.

Rate program. Duties include coordinating required forms and documentation,
maintaining compliance records, communicating with vendors and district staff, and

(1)    Your application will be placed in our active files for consideration.  Please make sure your application is complete and includes all requested information, along with any other information that may need to be disclosed concerning the position in which you are applying for.

(2)    A limited number of applicants will be interviewed.

(3)    Interviews will be arranged by the school administrators.

(4)    Selected applicants will be recommended to the superintendent and school board. Recommendations do not imply automatic employment.

(5)    If you are not interviewed, recommended, or selected for employment, your application will remain in the school system’s active file for 1 year.
